Psychotherapy Sessions
Online (Zoom) or In Person (Canberra)
Psychotherapy Sessions (1 hr)
I work with people in an ongoing way either weekly or fortnightly depending on why you have come to therapy and the issues we will be exploring together. We will regularly review how we are going, what has been helpful and if there is a particular direction you want to go in. Our work together is highly collaborative and my role is as a facilitator, companion and ally (I don't give advice or view myself as an expert on you and your life experience).
I'm unable to offer Medicare rebates (currently these are only available to Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and Mental Health Social Workers). My fees are considerably lower than these mental health professionals generally charge to make them as accessible as possible.
My Approach
My therapeutic approach is depth and process oriented (psychodynamic) and deeply respectful of each person's unique process.
The way we work together in our sessions are flexible to meet your needs at the time. Although my core training is in process oriented psychology (process work), the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of our work together and informed by relational attachment theory, parts work, neurobiological perspectives and compassion focused therapy.
I also bring two decades of personal and professional lived experience in expressive arts (voice and movement), community cultural development (disability and mental health), education, mindfulness, meditation and nature based wisdom teachings.
I view working with the inner life of a person as an honour and a privilege. My approach is creative and collaborative and my role is a facilitator, companion, ally and compassionate witness. I bring an attitude of respect, non-judgement, compassion and openness to your experience, values and world views. In our work together I will treat you as resourceful and capable and support you to deepen your awareness and understanding of your life experiences and inner wisdom.
Depth psychotherapy sessions are adapted to your needs and may include a combination of talking about what’s happening for you as well as exploring challenges and difficulties through a range of body centred and creative awareness processes that emerge and unfold at the time. All aspects and parts of your experience are welcomed and viewed as potentially meaningful, valuable and useful. This non-pathologising approach can support you to discover and understand what is beneath the surface of what you are experiencing in ways that are insightful, meaningful and supportive for your relationship with yourself and others.
I view my role as therapist & the space I hold in the therapeutic encounter as a privilege.
To this relationship and way of being & working together I bring:
~ My humanity (this is an encounter between humans … all that lives in & expresses through you is also in me).
~ My lived experience (my griefs & joys)
~ My commitment to being fully present to you & supporting you with compassionate awareness, respect, non-judgment & confidentiality.
~ My belief in your capacity to explore, discover & access your inner resources in ways that creatively develop & deepen your self-awareness, self-intimacy & self-trust in alignment with your unique process & timing.
~ My professional skills, knowledge, experience & insight.
~ My commitment to a professional industry body which includes compliance with a code of ethics & participation in a required number of professional development & supervision hours each year.
~ My commitment to my own inner work, lifelong self-learning & growth through spiritual practice, wisdom teachings & personal therapy.
I follow the ethical guidelines set by PACFA (The Psychotherapy and Counselling Foundation of Australia) http://www.pacfa.org.au/practitioner-res…/ethical-standards/
